New Patch Coming Dec 15th
Official Japanese site spills the beans.
The official site for Winning Eleven 2012 has updated today with the following information (translated by Google)
We plan to deliver the patch file on December 15, 2011. Apply the patch file contents are as follows.
- To improve and respond to the goalie long shot.
- Skill Card “Speed Star” to correct the effect. (The effect was too strong to make adjustments).
- Change the search criteria for on-line mode opponent. (“Free Match” to “search pass level” change)
- Modify the behavior conditions in online mode to stop certain circumstances.
- As you make adjustments to play better – Various modes.
Some nice information there. We already knew about the passing assistance lobbies coming, but also great to know the condition arrows may be getting tweaked on a game to game basis, rather than having a player on purple arrow for the whole day!
Expect news in the coming week.

Hey everyone! – not making any promises – but i MAY be on to something here!
Nizam mentioned above that he has “all shooting assistance turned off” so I decided to have a look at my settings and changed one thing:
I changed my TEAMMATE CONTROLS from ASSISTED to MANUAL
- this may be the answer to our shooting problem!
Maybe I am imagining this and it is early days of my testing but my shooting appears to go a lot more often in the direction of my intended input!
Nizam is the person who from the evidence based on his videos appears to have the most comfort with long range shooting – and i believe he has said he will help us by conducting some shooting tests in free training mode.
1. Id like to know how you find the shooting with a diagnal input(forward + up) or (forward + down)
2. Id like to know how you find the shooting with a straight up or down input
3. Id like to know if you find any difference by combining shooting with L2 – I think there seems to be an effect
These tests should make a difference and we may even discover various hidden control inputs that are not listed in the manual or explained in training!
We need to ask konami to start providing online official tutorials to help teach us more how to play the game that they make for us – this isnt mortal kombat where the joy of that game is about discovering secret death moves – in pes everyone wants to improve at football gaming and have knowledge of all the controls so that they enjoy the game more!
Just so you all know – I blog my opinions for the benefit of other PES players and would be more than happy to be more directly involved with the people in charge of this website or even Konami

I’ve done the same as justin 31 but it still seemed to sometimes predetermine placement, (am not sure if the changing teammate control to manual affects this or not though) I decided to experiment in the free training mode with the d-pad and LT (L2) for ps3 players, what I’ve found is that if you hold LT before you power up the ball is much more likely to go in the direction you are pressing for it to go in. I think this has something to do with the ‘very close’ dribbling technique where you can take very intricate touches if you hold LT whilst dribbling. Also obvisouly the manual pass modifier so it seems that you get more success using this method.
JonRyo says:
Also I think not holding RB (R1) whilst shooting/powering up helps, such as if youre running with a player release RB and then power up as you would normally
JonRyo says:
sorry to post again lol but it seems it is important to set up a shot as in real life and depending on which foot your player chooses to shoot with, if you are right footed and going to shoot at the right side of the goal you need to come in on an angle that is going to be the best to create a shot for that placement, it’s no good running left so the ball is next to the left foot then trying to aim for the right side of the goal. Anyway looking forward to see what this patch will do etc.
Nizam says:
JonRyo, exactly what I said in one of my previous post.

Kamran says:
Sounds good guys, i will need to test this tonight in training mode….. i currently have my team controls to assisted, will try it on completely manual….
My shooting, sliding is set as manual anyway…
im interested to try shooting with L2, see what difference it makes..
This is good guys, lets keep working together to conjure up ideas for this website and Seabass and the gang!! :-)
Pedro says:
Well i’ve stopped believing their OBAMA stories of them fixing things, at the end NOTHING’S fixed as usual! And this game needs more than a patch to fix it. The more i play the more obvious it is. What a letdown!
Promises…Promises …Promises.
I dont think blogging here helps at all, this website has more than enough iformation and tips to make a much better pes 2012 version.
They could easy make a list of ten fuckups and work on that and all would be much more better! I’m no expert but that seems easy enough. Go back to what works and stick with it damn it.
Same shit , different year(new slogan)
Dino says:
I will try this technique, thanks for the heads up.
Still, at the end of the day, it should not be so hard to kick a ball.
Dexter Lake says:
Well i have figured out the shooting issue. It has been around since pes 6 and seems to be a flaw by konami. Go into training and shoot at the keeper normally as you would. Ball not going were you want.
Now shoot at the keeper but take your finger off the analogue stick after you have powered up then aim viola. That is the shooting issue solved. Either konami patch it for pes 12 or they fix it for 13. If they dont fix it for pes 12 i wont play pes until they finally sort this issue. Its not practical and its akward. Konami read this. Guys spread the word.
Justin 31 uk says:
Hello again guys – I have been doing more tests on shooting in training mode. What I have found that works best is to say dribble or take a run up etc then –
1.Hold L2 / LT plus a diagonal forward direction towards goal as I power up my shot.
2. Then quickly before my player strikes the ball – i release L2 / LT and MOVE my direction FROM diagonal forward TO straight up or down.
Timing appears to be crucial – but i am improving my consistency at long range shooting – hope this helps others.
One thing that is for sure – there are only really 2 possible situations going on here –
Either
1. In this years PES, a different shooting algorithm has been programmed – requiring a new secret technique or command input depending on the angle of the player and the distance (becuase this is clearly not in the command list or instruction manual – and not in previous editons of PES – no one has ever complained this much!)
In which case – konami should be providing us with a shooting tutorial becuase many of us are rather frustrated!
OR
2. It is a fault or unfair inconsistency that needs fixing.
To be honest – I am sat on the fance about this one –
BUT I have noticed some strange shooting outcomes when I failed to shoot the ball to the left or right – several times when it travelled straight towards the middle of the goal – the keeper failed to save the shot because he dived in the direction i originally tried to shoot the ball to!
What I mean is – it seemed like an animation error becuase the game was reading that i tried to shoot right so the keeper dived to the right – but the flight of the ball screwed up and went directly straight into the goal
Is this an animation error proving that shooting needs to be fixed or is it another strange algorithm designed to add more variety and unpredicatbility to the game?
Kamran says:
Justin, it shouldnt be that hard to shoot where you want!! Its a glich in the game, either its animation error, or game code error…
Its a sad state of affairs…. This is basic stuff that should have been ironed out before the game was released….
Rebsat says:
Justin 31 uk and Nizam… Thanks very much my friends, as you both stated above, I changed my TEAMMATE CONTROLS from ASSISTED to MANUAL also my Shooting Assistance is already turned off
Yeeeees, Thanks God, finally I can shoot from long range and short range with too power and with any players and without using any button like RB or LT or …etc to improve my shots, at first I didn’t expect something like this would be happen ever, I was shocked and surprised when I’ve seen my shots regardless having great power like power of shots in real football, now I’m really excited with my shots and I don’t have any issues with them, also I don’t know why all of that peoples and included me didn’t discovered something like this before, fortunately I’ve discovered something very big
remember I didn’t practice in Free Trainning Mode to achieve the above, I just played in Exhibition matches
Dexter Lake says:
Justin i just said that lol. Its been an issue for so long which finally needs fixing.
JonRyo says:
@nizam cool, I checked otu some of your youtube vids mate, you have a nice collection of long range shots scored but usually with a lay off to a teammate. How has this technique been for you since the new patch? Is it still working or not?
Nizam says:
@JonRyo, thanks mate. The shots have more weight after the patch. I’ve noticed that if I use the same pressure when taking the long range shots, they most often end up blazing over the bar, but the shots certainly feel meatier. Guess, I’ll just have to practice a bit to get balance right.
JonRyo says:
@Nizam, Yeah I found they definetely have a lot more ‘OOMPH’ to them, but it does seem a lot harder to score long range shots now, prob have to keep playing online a bit more this week trying to beat the keeper from outside the box and see how it goes.
