Konami UK General Manager Pete Stone has appeared in the latest issue of MCV to reiterate the company’s long term plan of PES.
With PES 2012 announcement around the corner, we are already hearing Konami are looking to the future when it comes to the series. The latest interview in this weeks MCV features a quick interview with Pete Stone, who mentions that Konami are in the football gaming market for the long haul. wow, the PES team are finally thinking of EA as rivals to compete with (which they should). I remember a couple of years back when Seabass used to say we have our own game and ideas, we don’t think of others, etc.
It’s no surprise this news came right after the FIFA 12 “rebuilt engine” news recently.
Hope both games rock this year!!

Cursor changing
Teammate AI (defending, attacking – more intelligent runs and therefore less offsides)
Referess, GKs (although 2011 were much better than 2010)
Better through balls (felt a bit too scripted)
Weight of passing (short and long passes weight was inconsistent) Shooting (a whole new syustem requried which allows you to choose when to header, volley, scissor kick etc)
Less replays (we don’t need a replay after every infringment, Top Spin employs a system where you press trinagle if you want to view the replay after a point)
First Touch bug fix (so many goals conceded due to not being able to clear the ball straight away)
More control (e.g. defenders shouldn’t automatically clear the ball)
Throw ins – FIFA system is perfect
GK power bar and direction (goal kick, drop kick and throws)
Lob Shot (2011 is attrocious. You can hardly get it over the keepers head with a full bar, I used to use the manual lob to score chip goals)
Improve animations
Get rid of the stupid trick system – must be simplified. difficulty of trick should correlate with timing and difficulty of right analogue stick movement.
Penalties – OMG if this isn’t sorted. Keepers go left or right but should move their hands towards the ball. You can dive early or late. Shooting – power or placement. Placement should be easier to get in the corner but will be slower. Power harder to control but faster. Change the camera angle in game
Free-kicks – never anyone to pass to and referee goes for a Kit-Kat before blowing the whistle. Takes too long to move left or right with the aim.
Pressure 2 – for some reason your teammate behind the oponent applies the pressure so this never works
Commentary – less said the better
There is no reason they shouldn’t be able to deliver these things and I will be really disappointed if they don’t and introduce some random new modes or features. Come on KONAMI, make 2012 special
