After a few weeks out I’m back with Suff on the airwaves to talk some more about PES, and everything thats being going on whilst I was away. There’s more Gamescom reaction, and some reaction on last weeks podcast that featured Riot. We also have a few choice words regarding the way the PES 2010 pre-release hype build-up is turning out. Another case of community doing the game more justice than Konami?

Overall an action packed podcast, where myself and Suff don’t hold back with opinions and views – just as you would expect.

But this week we have a special guest in the shape of PES Community legend Thomas Puha aka RIOT. He talks to us about Konami, Seabass, PES 2010 and football gaming in general this season. So Gamescom is under way and already the PES-Mania has begun! Thanks to MrBasket for the early videos and pictures from the event that can all be found here. The demo available on the show floor seems to be getting people excited.

- 4 Playable Teams: Barcelona, Liverpool, Germany and France.

Podcast 060 – Holding Back

A week of non-news and rumoured information, its been slow moving for many PES fans. It still surprises me how early in the year we are talking about the next PES, and with it comes weeks of waiting. What little we have to talk about, myself and Gari do our best to fill you guys in what ever information we have. It’s difficult however, as with any relationships there are ups and downs. Its great to have Konami on the boards and helping the site with news, but there is give and take. Some of the news has to be kept quiet for obvious reasons, and we do our best to hold back.

The next week and a bit will go by so slowly, but it’s a wait that will be rewarded!

WENB Flyer Launching At Gamescom!

As you all know WENB is hitting Gamescom this year in a big way, with both Dave and Gari attending on behalf of the site. Armed with HD cameras and press passes, they’ll also be handing out flyers to the fans at the show! The header shows a snippet of what the flyer is all about. More details about our involvement at Gamesom, Cologne before the event in August.

Gamescom Press Passes Secured!

Something we didn’t want to announce until official confirmation, we’re happy to reveal WENB has secured press accreditation for the Gamescom event in Cologne! An email from the organisers today confirmed we will have full press access at the event.

Since the move from Leipzig GC to Gamescom Cologne, Europe’s biggest event has become very difficult to be accepted as press. The show at Leipzig used a two tier system, handing out green and red passes. The green for personal blogs/fansites etc, and red for recognised press (PSM3, Eurogamer etc). The red ones were really cool, giving access to a special area in the press centre (pods, free drinks etc) and allowing access to conferences. Luckily WENB always managed to snag the red passes (Suff is smoother than you think!), but things changed for Gamescom. Dropping the two tier system for just a single pass, personal blogs/fansites were one of the many factors taken out of the equation. We then heard that some freelance journalists were unable to gain accreditation too, as you need to be representing a company or site to get it.

Imagine my relief then, when seeing an email from the organsers stating we had been granted full access! We’ll now be able to provide full coverage from the event, and with a bigger team with more experience expect it to be the best show report ever!

But like i said in the podcast, August is months away, there’s going to be plenty going on before then…;)

We’ll have more news and information on our involvement much closer to the time. Gamescom is being held 19th-23rd August.

Back From Barca

What an experience. The sun, the footy stadium, and the women beach (went with the missus!). A nice break away, and even nicer that I’m back with some news regarding the site!

Oh my, it was a break I needed. End of the fiscal year is always a pain, and this break was booked well in advance. Even better then that the destination was Barcelona, home of great weather a great footy team. The stadium wasn’t half bad either ;)

But onto the website, and some great news regarding WENB. First of all a new member of staff will be joining the ranks. His name is Gari Clark, many will know him as Gari14 from the forums. His role will be a forum moderator. Right now the people who are signed upto the boards are an extremely small percentage of our visitors (something we’ll post about soon), but with news coming soon and with the expected upturn in visitors and people signing up there will be need for more help.

Along with his role as a moderator Gari will also be taking an important role within the team, by being our Gamescom representative! Many of you will know Gamescom is this years Leipzig GC, only that its being held in Cologne instead. With me and Suffwan absent last year due to seeing a more complete version of the game in London a few days before the event, we’re hoping the same will happen again this year. With Gari attending the show in Germany however we will have both showings covered. He’ll also be armed will a press pass allowing him more time with the game, with none of the eager pubic to battle with for some PES 2010 game time! We’ll have more on the event and our involvement with it closer the time. Gamescom begins August 19th.

It’s great to be back, and with us now being in April we’re not too far from news of PES 2010. Excited? You should be.
