Season 5 continues with the return of Suff, and a podcast dedicated to the recent events in Japan. We take a look at how Japan is getting on, and how Konami are attempting to battle through such a sad and devastating time in their country’s history.

We also touch on PES 2011 3D, discussing whether the 3D element brings anything new to the table. And as usual, we have a quick mention of PES 2011 itself, and look forward to the future. To finish off there’s even some Jett G love! All in all, yet another must listen poddy.

Something we were all waiting on, and finally the major Japanese importers have opened up pre-orders for the new Winning Eleven game coming in May.

If you live outside the European Union, then you can pre-order from Play Asia.

For everyone in the UK, you can pre-order the game from Yesasia.

I’ve used Yesasia before and they were excellent, but be warned, the free shipping takes around 2-3 weeks to deliver. Nice option though :)

You read that right, Konami are releasing a new WE game over in Japan in a couple of months! Massive thanks to Hideiker for this!

Reported on the official Japanese site, it states that Konami will be releasing it to coincide with the world cup, and Japan’s ‘year of sport’ initiative.

To get the full details, click here!

Personally, I’m very excited. As a stand alone game, although the focus seems just on a particular game mode, there’s every chance of tweaks and new additions we’ve all been asking for. More details as soon as we get them!

Abbreviations galore in that post title! J-League Winning Eleven Club Championship 2009 (breathe) has finally been given a release date, and is due to hit store shelves in Japan on August 6th. This PS2 exclusive game is a hardcore fan favourite, and is an anticipated yearly release. Since the PS3 and Xbox 360 hit interest has dropped dramatically, but it’s still a game I will no doubt pick up.

There is however some concerning news that, fingers crossed, is due to timing of release rather than problems Konami are facing. The licensed European club teams are at a low, with no Man Utd license (just Liverpool), only 3 Italian teams (Juve, Inter and AC Milan), and just 2 Spanish teams (Real Madrid and Barcelona). The French and Dutch leagues remain intact though.

Like I said, I’m confident these issues will be resolved by the time PES 2010 hits. Here’s hoping! Check here for the official site.

Thanks to Sidiclei for the news.

A post for all the hardcore PES/WE fans out there, J-League Winning Eleven 2009 Club Championship has been announced! (A bit of a mouthful that). This version of the series has always been held in high regard by the veteran PES players throughout the years, and the announcement of a new version for the PS2 will get some very excited.

No concrete details on the release date as yet, but these games tend to come out around August in recent years. Check out the official Japanese site for any information by clicking here.

…with surprisingly the PS3 version coming out on top! With the XBOX 360 struggling in the East it might not be that much of a shock, but the realization of the fact the PS2 version hasn’t performed like years gone by might raise a few eye brows.

After checking the official figures (which I can’t post unfortunately, terms of contract with data guys at chart-track), it also seems the Japanese public are the most hungriest for the latest version. Weekly sales (around 95% on PS3) are steady if unspectacular, but still dwarf it’s European sales performance if counted individually. The next gen formats in Japan have mustered over 500,000 copies sold so far, with the PS2 version lagging behind with less than half that figure.

So, is this the real reason for the change of focus from Konami? With the public shifting from PS2 to PS3/XBOX 360 in their own backyard, it was a reality shock witnessed first hand and has surely forced the hand of many execs in the company happy to churn out yearly games with little iteration.

We look forward to PES 2010 hoping the lesson has indeed been learned.
