Jon Murphy has confirmed, via twitter, that the power bar can indeed be turned off via the options menu.
It’s become a talking point since it was announced, with many fans concerned it would diminish the visual look of the game when playing. Most predicted it would be an option to turn off, as there has always been great flexibility when it comes to the GUI in PES. Those guys were indeed correct.
In other news, Konami have released a kit collection to dress your 360 avatar with. More company related than PES, but worth a look with football fever upon us. It’s the World Cup tomorrow!
Full press release for that after the jump.

Thanks again to the guys over at German PES super-site prorevo for this excellent spot in the games US press release!
Firing it through Google Translate we get the following:
On the edge of the press release from the American colleagues by Konami Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 we noticed that in this announcement, an additional passage, compared to the news in Europe, exist.
The original US press release reads:
“Improved Goalkeepers: In keeping with the basis of total freedom of movement, players now have more control over their keeper. This greater control Allows for quick roll-outs, instinctive saves, pinpoint accuracy with goal kicks, and precision ball distribution to make quicker breaks or playing down the clock easier. “
Prorevo then dig a little deeper and post :
You have to control more control and be able even the keeper in one-on-1 situations, or at least to influence his behavior, you decide how to respond to the goalkeeper.
Also, you can throw the ball quickly and directly. Currently, there are always a little break where the goalie stands around with the ball. This is bridged with PES2011 and you have more influence on the shedding. So you can for example those not just throwing to a teammate, but also free in the room. Depending on your command.
Furthermore, we would interpret this passage so that the keeper the ball is not automatically jump starts. Thus, for e.g. flay headed for a return of Mann’s own bit of time before you equip the ball with his hands. The striker go but, as in the Realtität to the man at that time just to stop play.
Superb work again guys! For the original, untranslated source of the post by prorevo please click HERE

Community, this is Konami Paris. Konami Paris, meet the community.
A fun and interesting post has been put up on the Konami blog from the Paris studio, and while it lacks any actual PES info, it’s another sign of Konami trying to become more transparent.
Lets not forget though that crazy Axel Rose, I mean Axel de Rougé, is working on the mobile phone version, so I’m sure information from him won’t be something we’ll collectively be salivating over. To read the post click here.
Now, where did that Jon Murphy get to…

Just a quick heads up to let you know Jon Murphy has joined up on twitter. It’s become another source of news these days, and certainly a key component in EA’s strategy to communicate with the fans. While I’m not sure if Jon will interact with the fans the same way David Rutter does for the FIFA team, its a massive step in the right direction. I mean we’ve already had this tweet from him:
Hey People, we will soon have exciting news on PES 2011, stay tuned!
So yeah, stay tuned!

Following on from my editorial on penalties, and with a lack of ‘hard’ news hitting regards PES2011, I thought I would take the opportunity to think out loud about the men between the sticks in Konami’s franchise.
After the jump I will be throwing some ideas out there as to how this vital component of any football game could be addressed.
