Finally!

The last of the UK press who went to Tokyo to write impressions about PES 2011 are the Official PlayStation Magazine, and in their latest magazine they devout 4 pages to their experiences, including a Seabass interview.

Other than impressions, no new screens or content, but they make up for that with something very interesting regarding the surprise Konami/Seabass have for PES 2011.

In their interview, following on from a question about licenses OPM asked Sebass:

Is that (licenses) in anyway connected with the ‘special surprise’ you said you are planning?

Seabass replied with:

Yes, you’re spot on!

So after net editor chitchat, it seems the surprise has totally stunned everyone! Could it be the EPL? Or Bundesliga? Maybe the surprise is a fully open edit mode, meaning licenses aren’t an issue? Right now we have completely no idea what it is, but look forward to finding out.

Regarding OPM’s impressions, I’m happy to say its extremely positive, with reference to Konami trying to get the ‘Purists Choice’ crown back. PS2 days all over again ;) To get the full impressions make sure you pick up the mag.

That’s right people, mark that date in your diary. Tuesday June 1st sees everyone release shedloads of information on PES 2011!

Most of this will be about the trip to Tokyo, including developer interviews and pictures from the dev studio. We were told today that everyone who attended the event took their own interviews, and asked different questions to the dev team, meaning each and every interview and video will be unique to that publication/website.

The places and dates you need to watch out for are:

June 1st: Embargo drops, meaning many places can post about first impressions about PES 2011 playtest (including WENB!). Along with this, get yourself ready for videos and screenshots and other artwork. The place to be will be Eurogamer however, as those guys will be posting up a special video about their attendance in Tokyo.

June 3rd: PSM3 is released. No concrete information on any actual exclusive in the magazine, but they are the first magazine to have PES 2011 featured with dedicated front cover. Lets not forget they will have their own interviews too. More news on this to follow.

June 15th: OPM is released. The third publication that flew out to Tokyo will be the last to publish their take on PES 2011. As above really, along with their unique interview I’m sure there will be some exclusive screens/content.

And that’s just information from the UK press! With more people at the event from around the world, expect June 1st to be quite an occasion. Not least because WENB have an extra special podcast planned. Stay tuned for information on us having a special guest. Or two.

14 days to go!

The new issue of OPM, released September 29th, has a page interview with Seabass that should get PES fans very excited. One of the questions put to the PES creator was regarding the work going into PES between now and launch, and as you can see from the header Seabass claims he’s still tweaking the game. He goes on to mention how feedback is still being implemented, and when the game hits it should be refined a great deal compared to what everyone is playing now.

This goes hand-in-hand with the fact that the magazine still has no review of the game yet, even though by the time the next issue hits the game will be out. I have a feeling it’s down to the fact they wanted to see the finished game before giving it a score.

And rightly so.

Secondly they have an interesting face-off between FIFA 09 & PES 2009, discussing how they stand against the test of time.

Other than that nothing new here – Gamescom it is then!

A really interesting article about PES 2010 can be found in the latest Official PlayStation Magazine, released June 9th.

PBS, for those who haven’t already guessed by the header, is a baseball game. Called Pro Baseball Spirits (PBS; Konami love their abbreviations), its been one of the games coming out from Konami that has done itself justice on the nextgen platform. The guys at OPM discuss how the quaility of the most recent PES 2010 screens lend themselves to the baseball game, and proves that in-house tech sharing is going on behind the scenes. Have to say was an interesting read, make sure you check it out next week on the news stands.

Aside from that nothing news worthy (PES related) in the latest magazine. Looks like we’re going to have to look forward to July 9th, when PSM3 finally get their hands-on!

All these magazine updates make me feel like an online WH Smith store! But I’m sure it’s something many of you guys would like to be aware of, and WENB provides news of varying importance after all.

So onto the article then. Again we have the issue early, you won’t see this on actual WH Smith shelves until May 12th, but yet again there’s nothing of real importance. The ‘news’ in the magazine focuses on the A.I., as you can tell from the header. Speaking of player reactions and individual mannerisms, its the same news we got from its French counterpart yesterday. Further into the magazine there’s another article on how they would improve PES as series, but again there’s nothing different to what you see on the boards on a daily basis.

That pretty much rounds up a month of magazine releases, meaning no PES exclusive news in any magazine. Lets hope we don’t have to wait until next month for our PES fix.
