March is upon us, and that means one thing – PES 2011 news is just around the corner. Last year new PES was announced in the first week of April, and I’d be taken back if a similar unveil date wasn’t in place this year. Seeing as it’s that time of year again, I wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on the previous year, and discuss what turned into a topsy turvy year for both Konami and WENB.

Well, 6.96m copies in 9 months to be exact.
MCV reported on Konami’s profit drop year on year, but with it gave us some details on how the PES series is doing. Totally unsure how well the number is compared to previous years, but going off general performance in the industry, 7m copies is massive!
To put it into perspective, THQ were in serious financial pressure before UFC 2009 came out. 3.5m copies sold later, and they’re doing just fine.
And while PES has no doubt taken a battering from FIFA, you need to look at the bigger picture. Some people said I was in Konami PR mode when stating the sales figures of both EA and PES were incomparable due to overhead costs. Looking at it now months later, I’m hoping you start to understand what I mean. Taking in mind things like development costs, marketing costs, and even licenses, you feel Seabass & Co aren’t in such a bad place – even though many would like you to think otherwise.
With 3 years on the new systems under their belts, and a full year of fan feedback ringing in their ears, I’m extremely confident we’ll see them eclipse that figure comfortably in 2010.

Some great news for our massive North American audience, WENB has managed to team up with Konami US to provide news and information for all you guys in Soccer-land! For years now we’ve been focused on the UK and other areas in Europe, but failed to provide the same sort of service outside that circle. Release dates, patch information etc have usually been lost in translation, due us being situated where we are. Now though things are about to change!
And it’s just not a dedicated US site that’s in the works, we’ve also teamed up with videocasting extraordinaire Jett Garner to lead the charge! Jett will act as the community leader for the US equivalent, and I’m sure you’ll agree he’s the best man for the job. Already with quite a following, he’ll be able to provide you guys with the latest news that’s dedicated to NA with official Konami backing.
Celebrations!

Seriously, I’m pi$$ed. All the rubbish so called professional journalists are spouting can get anyone irate, what with calling us PES fans blind, or fanboys. I mean, how impartial can a statement like that be? And how much respect do you stand to lose by not being able to see faults and positives in both games?
Rather than simply trying to dumb down the fanbase to their unintelligent level, shouldn’t they try to understand why people would sway away from EA’s recent offering? Not only does it offend the people who prefer a more complete and bug-free single player experience, it’s very disrespectful to a company that’s given so much for over a decade, and visibly working hard to get back on track.
