Much attention has been swiftly taken away from the Wii versions of FIFA and PES since they hit a few months ago, but Eurogamer have tried to remind us all that Nintendo’s family console is home to some decent football games.
Today they conducted a head-to-head article pitting the two rivals against each other, reviewing them in the process. No surprises in who won the battle, although who’s winning the war is certainly a different story…

So PES 2010 : Wii Edition is with us, a short 7 months or so on from its predecessor strangely called PES 2009 : Wii Edition. It isn’t really enough time to make a dramatic change to an already well received, and completely unloved and hugely underrated(by the masses anyway) videogame. Especially a game that is based on “Old tech”, “Previous Gen” hardware….Is it?
As with all things PES at the moment, it’s complicated.

So here it is, PES 2010 release week. It’s been quite a ride, and we finally make it onto the home straight.
Since the embargo ended late last week the fans have been bombarded with information, videos, screenshots, and of course reviews. Me and Suff give our final word on PES 2010, and have some choice words to say about the websites who have been reviewing the game pre-launch.
The discussion ended up lasting just over an hour, so make sure you sit back and relax to this one. After all, you’re all days away in receiving your copy (Euro listeners), and seeing for yourself what all the fuss is about!

Sometimes in football you have to go backwards to go forwards. Setting up play, creating space, or just maintaining possession – at times it makes sense. Football analogies aside, PES 2010 is a game Konami built from community involvement, and created from past achievements. Going back to their simulation roots, Seabass and his Tokyo team have responded to continued criticism aptly, and created a football game that reaches out to all the fans who have followed the series for over a decade.

With the embargo ending today many websites are posting the reviews of PES 2010. So far both IGN and Eurogamer have launched their reviews, giving the game 8.7 and 7 respectively. To read the reviews click here and here.
