First PES2012 Rumours Surface!

Yep, you have read that right!

With PES2011 hitting stores worldwide PSM3 have already started talking PES2012, with Decembers issue (in stores now!) containing a wee heads up as to what will potentially feature in next years game.

Hidden at the very end of the magazines The Insider section the following is written :

Finally, PES2012 plans are afoot , with whispers of a more seamless, less cut-scene heavy, experience, plus new uses for the effectively redundant d-pad. Run prompts? Yes, please.

Is this a nod to continuous play and yet more tactical/control options in the pipeline? Time will tell.

Personally, run prompts would not be would top of my list regards use of the d-pad but it is heartening to hear that the team might well be envisioning a better use it in future editions. It also could suggest further enhancements to dribbling control as a whole.

Early Release Whispers Return

I wish I had something more concrete on this, but I haven’t got anyone willing to commit to their name to this story – due to obvious repercussions. I’ve had a number of people saying that PES 2010 is definitely hitting early this year, maybe even September. These people are to be trusted, and all of them don’t exclusively work for magazines or gaming sites.

I can’t get any sort of official confirmation, as Konami don’t respond to rumours. As soon as we get any sort of confirmation we’ll let you know. For now, the possibility of PES 2010 coming out earlier than usual just wont go away.

Podcast 057 – Time Slows Down

With the anticipation for PES 2010 growing by the day, to most hardcore fans it almost seems as though time has come to a stand still. But this has been a semi-busy week with a nice collection of information being unveiled by the press in various countries. Add to that a few little bits and bobs from friends of WENB that have been in regular contact with the team. Things are coming along nicely but it still feels like a long wait!

Does Blog Pic Give Clues To What The Future Holds?

No sooner has the PES Blog been launched, fans are already hyper analyzing every word and trying to guess what each sentence means. But not all of you have. Two forum members, Reddwarf and Lionhart, have skimmed the words and spotted a nugget of info in one of the pics from the blog. Look at the header, and see if you can spot it!

To the right of a smiling Jon Murphy, you can see a laptop opened up showing off some sort of logo. The text on the screen appears to say ‘PES WANTS YOU‘. Its certainly got many people talking. Is it just a nice sign to have in the background, or is it a new Konami slogan for the PES 2010 campaign? It could also be more than a mere slogan, and be the gateway to a site where all PES fans can leave their feedback and ideas officially. While we were thinking and contemplating, a sharper than your average fan checked out the slogan on a domain checker site (here). It revealed that the domain name has recently been purchased from a constituency in Germany, called Konami ;)

Now some of you fans will know that Germany just happens to be the country that homes Konami’s European HQ. We’ll have to wait for official confirmation, but it looks like Reddwarf and Lionhart have unearthed something special. Guess we’ll know soon enough.

Just goes to show how eager the fans are for news!

Another week, and another WENB podcast. It’s a momentous occasion, and not only because the podcast count has hit half a century. It’s our first recorded conversation for the WENB site since our return, and with it comes an abundance of news. From the fantastic Wii version of PES 2009, to the rumours of PES 2010, we discuss whether it really will be the Return Of The King. There’s also talk about the way things are changing within Konami HQ, and Adam gives us an insight into our dealings with them past and present. And finally, I drop a bomb of a question on Adam regarding the future of PES 2010 : What ONE thing would you want changed and why? Hear what Adam has to say, then let us know if you agree or disagree on the boards!

PES 2010 Rumours Surface

It’s been a long time. WENB hasn’t been in the rumour business for a while, and with the site going through a bit of a roller coaster these last few months it good to get back to basics. Getting the news first is what we thrive in, and it was something we managed do very well last year.

With that in mind we’re happy to give you guys the latest teasing information coming from our friends in the industry regarding PES 2010. While we can’t name them officially, but everyone will know the guys who have helped the blog in the past and understand these people are to be listened to – especially as they were very critical of PES 2009.

To simplify things, lets list them in bullet points:

PES 2010 team will have 200 extra people working on the game
New graphics and animation engine
The Spanish La Liga license is back, amongst other lost licenses in the past
The community mode is in
Master League revamp
The UEFA Europa License is a target
10 vs 10 online is a target

For many the list is believable, but only in the sense that there’s many things on there that people expect.

I haven’t contacted Konami UK over the list as they don’t respond to rumours, but I have managed to talk to other officials in Europe. Without being committal on anything specifically, there response added up to ‘Some are wrong, some are right, and some are below what we will achieve.’ The guy has obviously had some media training…

We’ll have some more info very soon, but in the meantime lets appreciate the unappreciated Wii version of PES 2009. Released March 27th in Europe, we’ll have a review very soon.
